Locking the Truth

Ah, right. So they are alerting the mods, after they've had the last word ??

He would have had the last word on the most recent locked thread, but it ended up being me instead

And in that particular thread you couldn't blame Softus , some of the comments being made by others were ridiculous. To be fair to the mods I would have locked it 3 pages earlier! :D

Funny you should say that because my son made out a table which I now have in front of me showing the last 10 locked posts, the main participants and the name of the final poster before locking took place. Perhaps he got it wrong but I cant see your name as the final poster on any of them.

I must say, and this is not a dig, that I am most impressed with Softus's timing on these posts

Plumbing section.

My apologies BoxCleva. To be honest I thought that it was only in General Discussion that debates got locked because they went OTT. Perhaps I should pay more attention to the other forums.

Perhaps I should just point out that the pattern with locking is that the last post is often deleted, it being the one that tipped a moderator over the edge for being [too] abusive.

So, commonly, the most recent polite post is left in place.

Instead of locking the thread, wouldnt it be fairer to ban the person who was regularly the cause behind the locking, for a period of say 1 week increasing in length if they continued.
Bit like on the line of 3 strikes and your out.
That way those who use it as a way to get out of a sticky situation and those who just resort to abusive rantings will think twice.?

Frankly, I don't think that fairness does, or needs to, enter the equation.

The moderators use their discretion in acting according to the owner's guidelines, and the owner can do what he likes. It isn't a democracy, so if you think it should be then you've been misinformed.

So your saying softus is in with the MODS and whenever he has had his say or looks like getting beaten he asks the MODS to lock the post?

I got to be honest..theres a lot of people here who have crossed swords with softus in the past, myself included, he has his opinions as we all do, he probably p****s a few people off, as we all probably do at some point on here.

But one thing he wont do is bottle out of an arguement..he doesnt need to.

Thinking about it, nor do'es anyone else on here (no names no pack drill but we all know you the 'regulars' are...and they are like dogs with bones when they are into somthing

Your comment seems like its based on supposition alone.

Back it up?

The MODS (rightly or wrongly) lock the threads because they either go astray or end up with personal insults.

hit the nail right on the head ;)

kev... Apart from trying to get away from the blazing sun, what else made you move from Hartlepool 'on the UK coast'! for Tennessee?

love of a good woman

oh and the fishing in the river at the bottom of the yard

and the 16 ft pool in the front yard

and the fact that the refrigerator always has beer in it

and the kangaroo is only 5 mins walk

what more could you ask
