This radio is playing up. It’s either unresponsive or toggles through random settings such as the time. The “source” button is not having any effect.

I tried two Makita batteries without any success. I also replaced the AA batteries.

I would welcome any suggestions. Thanks

Randomly flipping through settings, suggests to me that the rotary encoder under the knob is dirty.
Here's a video that shows getting into a similar radio and removing the encoder.
He wrongly calls it a potentiometer - he also says you can only replace it. I would try a spray of contact cleaner first and then exercising it in both directions.

Depending on the version, the source button may have a micro switch underneath, or a conductive rubber contact like a remote control button.
If it's a microswitch, it likely needs replacing. If it's conductive contacts, those can also be gently cleaned up.

Just to add, this definitely isn't a battery issue!

I now have no buttons having any effect. When I remove the battery, it states power failure, even though it has a new set of AA batteries.

Also the main knob seems to feel very sturdy and nothing like the loose one in that video.
