Mask exemptions.

My wife actually witnessed a woman drop her shopping and run screaming from Aldi before collapsing outside requiring an ambulance. It transpired it was a severe panic/anxiety attack caused by wearing a mask. (first lockdown)
I always wear a mask where required and so should everybody. But there are genuine cases where people are unable, and these people still need to eat and shop.

was it caused by the mask, or the fear of the pandemic and being in a shop?

this is where i'm a bit of an arsehole and just genuinely dont understand things, i think logically and just dont understand why people cant wear a mask, i cannot think of any viable reason. They dont even restrict your breathing that much.

my brother's mother in law is french and resides in france, and she has terminal lung cancer and was diagnosed with weeks maybe a couple of months to live at christmas, yet she still has to wear a mask and she doesn't complain about it, or say she cant breath any less than she already can.

Don't know tbh, my wife chatted to the lady's friend whist waiting for the ambulance and her friend said she thought it was a panic attack and there was no previous history of this. But back then, in the early weeks of the first lockdown pretty much everybody wore a mask without exception.
Of course when 'exemptions' were allowed, the door's opened to anyone who cares to say they're exempt.
And of course if these people become aggressive when tackled by staff, they find they can get away with it. The shop staff ain't paid enough to be enforcers.

I've seen a woman in Sainsburys (it all happens in Sainsburys) with no mask...

I see a young couple walking around no masks. Would you guess they knew each other . .loud hellos and big cuddles.. just looking at them you could see they fitted into the scum **** class thats membership is full now.

You might call yourself an a-hole: I couldn't possibly comment!:D. Are you though, in the, "Pull yourself together!" camp when it comes to mental illness; or do you feel autism is just naughtiness? OK to have such views, but they are not generally supported by medics.

My point: some people need blue badges, some people need not to wear a mask and so on and so on. The problem is, that there is a type of person who WILL park in a disabled spot cos, "No-one's using it!"; as there are parents with children who behave badly, "But he has ADHD see." And so it goes. Oh, everyone on a benefit is a scumbag scrounger too, nearly forgot!:D

My MIL had a blue badge and was always irked when I would refuse to park there, instead taking her to the door, then parking. My SIL, on the other hand would take it out shopping to park easily. Alone.

You can't legislate for knobbery, sadly.

Not an 'arsehole', just not informed...

Apart from such diseases such as emphysema and pulmonary fibrosis which can lead to low blood oxygen if the mouth/nose is covered, there are other viable reasons...

Autism
Learning disability
Claustrophobia
PSD
Deafness
Severe eyesight problems/glasses steaming up

The problem is that there are no set guidelines/documentation available, so again it's a case of allowing suspicion to creep in amongst the general population!

AND, giving an opening to those who actually do always play the chancer card. I understand the US is really hot on disabled parking violations- love to see it here.

It's all bullshit. Everyone wants to be the victim and spout their little excuse, and the snowflakes want to let them

If it was the other way around - "wear a mask or else you will die", there would be a better response.

Or "Wear a mask or you ain't coming in here, go somewhere else".

Or if I was allowed to bloody any exposed nose I saw in Asda.

But there are always 'chancers' in society. Those that take advantage of any given situation whether it be medical or indeed financial.

What must be understood is that there are genuine cases where a mask genuinely cannot be worn.

I know someone who works with LD clients.
It's bad enough in normal times when their behaviour is often misunderstood/ridiculed not only by the idiots around in society but also by public services such as the police.
The number of times an LD person behaving 'strangely' is presumed to be drunk and chucked in a cell is frightening!
So imagine how difficult it has been to explain why not only have they been restricted in what they have been able to do for the best part of a year, but also having to make sure they cover their face for a reason they can't understand.

Yes, the commonly spotted **** as I refer to them. As you and others have touched on, when walking round the supermarket you see a fair few folk not wearing masks. Law of averages dictates they won't all have a genuine reason not to, they are therefore ****s. Whether people think the whole covid thing is simply not real and/or they simply don't want to adhere to the guidance, what they are therefore doing is putting others at risk through their own actions and beliefs.

You might be a smoker who doesn't believe in the risks of passive smoking to others. Does that give you an inherent right to sit in a room with non smokers and light up? I'd assert no, unless they all advise they're happy for you to do so.

This is why the whole thing will remain a bit of a clusterf**k until sufficient numbers are vaccinated. Let's face it, because we live in a free democratic society (I'm waiting for the 'we don't any longer' responses) an element of society will continue to flout the rules. The 'it's my right' brigade. It's a pity their actions potentially have consequences on anyone else other than their own nearest and dearest.
