More deaths in the channel.

21% of those rescued, 3% of their rescues , guess statics not you strong point .
You need to dig deeper in to the numbers, you also can see the operational data on public AIS tracks.

Each rescue does not cost the same.

A teenage life guard paddling out to a swimmer on a surf board does not cost the same as a £million+ off shore life boat with a full crew.

Would you prefer that they didn't respond to calls in the Channel?

Why don't the Government do something about it?

What about the full costs in London/Thames?

Are they comparable?

London is the hotspot remember. No matter how hard you try to say its elsewhere

Inshore rescue and river rescue boats are smaller inflatables they cost 1/10th - 1/50th of the cost of the all weather off-shore class.

Typically 2-3 people on a 50-250k rib.

And where is busier ?

Station manager Kevin Maynard said: ‘Since the station originally opened in 2002, we have made the best use of the space available but now, thanks to generous donations, we have a purpose-built lifeboat station which has been specifically designed for our needs. It will make a huge impact on our lifesaving service in central London.’

Over 20 years since its formation, the crew at Tower Lifeboat Station has saved 381 lives across 9,901 shouts* – just a couple of weeks ago, it became the first RNLI station to reach 10,000 lifeboat launches while saving the life of a member of the public.

In 2022 alone, the station had its busiest year as the crew launched 734 times and saved 21 lives.

So all those cancelling their contributions are obviously affecting the busiest area

The objective is to save lives. 21 saves this year. Well done to Kevin and his team. What a great job done with some modestly priced RIBs. Sadly not the busiest by any shot. Just 1/5th of those saved in or about French waters.

Dig as deep as is needed to select the criteria that you want to argue your point.

It's known as confirmation bias.

Saw a clip the other day of a dinghy setting off for the UK from a French beach. It was quite surreal, folk sunbathing and 20 metres or so away from them this dinghy setting off.

Why haven't the French and UK authorities joined up to flood the beaches with 24/7 patrols to shoot the dinghies with a plastic bullet before they get into the water? Granted they can't monitor every single centimetre of coastline but a fair few more could be stopped before they even start.

Pathetic.

The point is, they are spending money they can’t afford, losing donations they need, rescuing criminals who should be stopped from even getting in their unsafe vessels.
