As a professional driver, I've had my share of accidents, doing 30-40k a year, mainly on motorways, so statistically, I'm bound to have an accident.
But when I get in the car with my 60+ yo parents I am a nervous passenger. The mistakes they make, bad road positioning, middle lane hogs, non use of indicators, etc etc etc etc...
I feel bad when I point out these mistakes, when my Dad says to me, Yes but son, I've been driving 40 years...YES but BADLY!
I also know someone that took the advanced driving test, and they are an even worse driver. The thermostat is faulty on his car, so the car always runs cold, so when stuck in traffic, and the temp gauge goes to 'normal', he is convinced that the car is overheating. He uses 5th gear at 15-20mph, the car groans, how he got a pass, is beyond me.
This is three people that I know personally, I say to their face that they are bad drivers, they say I drive too fast (I drove a 140mph sportscar at the time), there must be some type of regulation to prevent people becoming naive at driving, because however good a driver you are, the guy coming the other way, might not have a clue.
Now I get the bus. Just to clarify. For Joe 90.. £4 quid for a daily ticket, if you are that pedantic.
