New workers rights?

what do you think they lied about
what did vote leave lie about:

take back control of fishing
take back control of our finances
take back control of our borders
they need us more than we need them
"the German care industry"
there will be no border checks between GB and NI
brexit will cut bureaucracy
fantastic new trade deals
goods will be much cheaper
cut regulations
save money on membership fee (brexit red tape costs more than that)
stop immigration
EU army

Which of those lies did you vote for and weirdly still believe?

Flexible working could be full time hours over 4 days instead of five.

Some building trades, for one, have historically finished early on a Friday. Flexible working.
Having worked in an area with flexible working doing the extra hours to avoid not working on a Friday can be pretty popular. Not every week though. A Friday is popular as many work a shorter hour Friday anyway. Sometimes lunch break times have been cut from traditional times that were caused by factories with lots in them and very large canteens.

The feasibility of flexible working of this type depends on the job.

Only if it can be accommodated. What is wrong with the proposal?

I've got people on flexible working who have been doing it for many years.
No it says good enough reason not to accommodate them now why would you apply for a job offering certain hours shift patterns etc and the day after starting ask for them to be changed .
No one says flexible working should be banned but if its not part of the original terms and conditions why should an employer have to justify it not being accommodated .

Of course, which it why the request can be refused.
LOL Some are taking no notice of that. Usual rants without actual details in many areas. Some will take a while to become apparent.

Also signs of worries about unions. That in many ways based on the past where misleading info was used. Leyland is the best example.

A change of that type would be impossible in some - probably many jobs.

Do they? What does the law expect of the employer?
did you not read the article
  • Flexible working: Bosses will be expected to consider any flexible working requests made from day one, and say yes unless they can prove it is unreasonable

The law hasn't been passed yet, we don't even know what it will say.

Kinda hard to take no notice of something which doesn't exist yet.
