If you ARE the expert then you need to make sure that the employer knows what you need to know.

The police have control over the investigation and who “helps”. They should either have paid the private SAR team as consultants, or shared the information now in the public domain. Or told them to stay away.

it is unknown how those artifacts came to be there

there is no evidence of entering the river, no slip marks on the bank no forensic evidence like bits of fabric.
