He wasn't just hated by the outsiders, he was equally hated by the insiders. In fact, I don't know many in the 'biz' who actually liked him.

Did he love her for herself or did he love her for her $money???

If you want to place 'Johnny Rotten' on a pedestal, where the extreme wealth of a woman he mostly ignored in his early days of fame & in a time where it didn't matter to him, then so be it. He only ever hooked up with her when his 'money tree' wilted.

He is not a bloke you could have a pint with on an equal basis.
