As for councils maintaining houses .
Local council 2 year back log on repairs
Stopped repairing lock up garages and leaving them empty or letting people have them rent free.
Look on line and you will see loads of complaints about councils not able to do basic repairs .
Look at big cities /towns with streets and streets of derelict council houses they cannot let or maintain being sold of for.
Some of you seem to think all these council houses being sold off are palaces worth hundreds of thousands

Yeah that’s because local councils have to pay out massive amounts in housing benefit…,because Thatcher flogged all the council houses.


And added to which Conservatives govt which have cut council budgets by between 30% and 50%

Which ends up in the pockets of private landlords... many of whom ended up owning the council houses that councils were forced to sell below their value.

A scheme that takes money from the taxpayer and gives it to private landlords.

You're suggesting that ex council houses sold on right to buy are sold to private landlords at a discount, I don't believe that's true. Surely any houses bought by private landlords were at market rate.
