Homeowner mortgages in arrears accounted for one per cent of all outstanding residential properties with a mortgage. The figure for BTL mortgages is 0.57 per cent. UK Finance expects the combined number of homeowner and BTL mortgages in arrears to remain below one percent of the total number of mortgaged properties come the end of 2023.


So as a general rule of thumb, using percentages, a btl landlord is about half as likely to suffer repossesion than a normal homeowner.

A better assessment is how many people are classed as needing to be housed from a duty of care point of view. It isn't close to 1M or even 10% of 1M
 
I disagree. There are criteria for getting on waiting lists. No point in trying to pretend the numbers are less than they actually are.
Not the same criteria for getting a council house though. As said. Those owed a duty to be housed are the real ones in need Not people joining waiting lists hoping for a cheap flat who are already adequately housed.
