It's an interesting question. Could Europe take out the Houthis even if they wanted to. Are there enough aircraft carriers. Can we even protect them. If not, where would we launch the aircraft from. An end to Pax Americana would certainly bring massive issues.

It's possible, we know Russia routinely attempts to **** with the US and UK political system. Normally this sort of thing happens when someone doesn't keep their contact list clean and descriptive, but it's possible they were compromised and the reporter was added on purpose. It's be amazing to reveal that sort of weakness instead of keeping it open for future use though.
Of course if that happened it's only possible because they were using a personal device and unauthorised application for official and classified materials.

I'm not sure I understand this point. Are you saying that a journalist should hide from the public the fact that there has been a major national security breach? And on the wider point, it is a slippery slope into authoritarianism when journalists who criticise a government are punished.
NATO's not 'an army', it's a coalition. There's no need for a European army. A 'European Treaty Organisation', maybe. UK France Germany, Norway, Sweden and Poland might well commit to that. That's a well bloodier nose than Ukraine can give (and boy, they have done well); with 2 nuclear powers to counter-bluff the big talk from Vlad. I'm all for moving (slowly) away from US being the 'big boy'.
