On the subject of pull cords I use washing line - cheap strong and smooth coated. If I were pulling a cable like you would in the future than as well as the cable I need I would also pull another replacement washing line for future use.

Only the one in flameports post does, others come in sections and bends that need assembling and a cord adding.
