For clarity, the porch light is right next to a ceiling hatch so it would be straightforward to install a junction box near the light.

the more joints you have ther more chance of having a bad connection. You would know there is a jb but any one else looking wouldnt expect one.
cable from rose to light is what most would expect and only has 2 connections, one at each end
