Owen Paterson

How the cluck did they win the vote? BBC saying 100 Torys did not vote/abstained in protest. That can't be right, surely

It is.

Also Owen just said that he would act the same way again. There is no contrition or apology.

Hundreds of thousands of pounds are just too tempting for the sleazeballs.

They had to be.

What decent person would work for Johnson?

SLEAZY JOHNSON AND SLEAZY REES-MOGG RAM THE STICK INTO REVERSE

SLEAZY PATERSON THROWN TO THE WOLVES

I find it disgusting he is using the suicide of his wife as a shield. She killed herself on the day of his birthday - if that isn't sounding alarm bells.

Pressure? He bloody well knew he broke the rules.

Mps can police themselves because we have a shambles of a political system.
Disgusting of course but a sad loss, especially for her children and grand children...

However as regards the corruption scandal,

"she believed it would force her to resign as head of Aintree, where the Grand National is sponsored by Randox, because of the couple’s shared connection with its polo-playing multi-millionaire boss, Dr Peter FitzGerald."

"Randox won a £133million Government contract to supply Covid testing kits in April last year."

Greed and playing the system often has some tragic comebacks...

Others should take note.

Yet another U-turn...

"The government will rethink its plans to overhaul the policing of MPs' conduct after a furious backlash.

On Wednesday, No 10 backed a shake-up of the standards watchdog and blocked the suspension of one of its own former ministers, Owen Paterson.

It sparked an angry reaction from Labour and some Tory MPs, who feared it would look like corruption to voters.

MPs are now likely to vote again on whether Mr Paterson should be excluded from Parliament for 30 days.

Opposition parties refused to cooperate with the government's plans to change the disciplinary process prompting a hasty rethink from the government.

Commons Leader Jacob Rees-Mogg told MPs the changes will not now go ahead without cross-party support. "

'would look like corruption to voters'?

It is corruption...

But votes are all that count to the corrupt!

"Randox won a £133million Government contract to supply Covid testing kits in April last year.
Why don't the government ask Randox to refund the money they have received
Randox were charging 120 quid for testing kits which could be bought from China for 12 quid.

Paterson has a degree in history
What were Blairs qualifications when after resigning as PM. he walked into a million pound a year (part time) job with an international bank.

Ask the government?

Oh that's right, they like others don't care because it's profit before people...

How much money did Blair make from his time in politics.

Hence why I said
It is corrupt full stop!

As for 'Maybe it's time that lobbying is outlawed, or at least money changing hands for lobbying', that's laughable...

It's always gone on and always will do.
