Explain how the "justice" meted out to that criminal is any better than the "justice" meted out by the Taliban who kill, for example girls who have mobile phones.

Call it 'an eye for an eye' or 'poetic justice', I happen to think it is right, and that's nothing to do with Old Testament beliefs.

Stating that this sort of justice makes us worse than animals suggests that you are missing one very important point: the person who commits the initial crime has chosen to break the law; poetic justice is the consequence that the criminal is aware of and must accept when they decide to commit the crime.

No, I'm saying that many of the sentences handed out by our courts these days are far too lenient.

Perhaps when our learned judges send paedophiles to jail for a 'short stay' they are relying on other inmates (murderers and the like) to dish out a more realistic sentence! It's a bit hit and miss, though.

All three 'roles', i.e. Judge, Jury and 'Executioner were carried out by three different 'bodies'.

The jury of 12 people found him guilty.
The judge sentenced him.
The convicted prisoners carried out the 'execution', as you put it.

No one has set themselves up as all three. However, everyone I have discussed this with, (and some of them are learned legal scholars), whilst not condoning, it have said they don't condemn it either. His own attitude ensured that he would become a victim of 'underground' justice.

I'm guessing this picture is at least 50 years old. And judging by the clothing I would hazard a guess that it took place in America, not Great Britain.

If you are going to compare people in this country with anyone then let it be with people from the same country. Otherwise its like saying all black people are like the Mau Mau.

Oh and by the way, just because someone doesn't believe in a God and is therefore classed as a heathen it does not make them a devil-worshipper. Look into Paganism and see how many different 'beliefs' come under that umbrella. None of them idolise the devil but because idiots don't do their research thoroughly they put them in the same group.
