Good on the cuts to farmers. And what fantasy world are you living in? We haven't had a motor industry since Thatcher killed it off along with the rest of our heavy industry.

true we are a foreign owned production line reliant on JIT supply chains

still an important industry though, with plenty of employment and lots of satellite industries including express courier services

I’ve just got home from a quick trip to Westfield Stratford. Two trains there, two trains back. My wife told me to be careful what I touch and not to touch my face. It’s impossible! Kept touching stair rails, escalator rails, train grabs and shop door handles. Of course, I touched my face/scratched my nose/rubbed my eye etc. It’s like trying to eat a sugared jam doughnut without licking your lips. I got home and washed my hands straight away - I felt dirty!

Wear gloves outside, obviously don't touch face, but carry a pack of tissues with you and when you feel the urge to scratch, blow nose etc, use the tissue as a barrier between your hands and your face, then dispose away from your person.
Then once you get home, remove gloves and wash hands carefully. You may even want to wash face.
If you feel concerned about the gloves being contaminated, use a dilution of Dettol to clean them down.
