Panorama - The Smart Meter mess

I knew an old mechanic who used to service my car years ago. He stopped doing it as cars got more complicated and expensive to repair.

Did that mean we banned new cars and just drove old ones? No, of course it didn't.

Agreed, but some are getting their panties in a bunch trying to introduce irrelevance.
Insofar as metering your usage is concerned - an SM is just another meter. The fact that the brainless luddites believe that little men dwell inside them and report your Cheerios consumption to the Boiled Egg Society, matters very little in terms of....

You are no more likely to be switched to pre-pay or be cut off with either meter.

10% if SM’s are faulty but that’s good?
I'll say it again if you wish.

You are no more likely to be switched to pre-pay or be cut off with either meter. That is my only stance as some kept saying how easy it was with a SM.

Take up the reliability issue with someone else.

The mechanical side would still be easier with a SM.

There’s absolutely no way around that.

do you have any clue whatsoever about why they stopped working on them or just bumping your gums the comparison of working on cars doesnt work in this instance in any way whatsoever .
Have you not found it on google yet its really quite a basic reason

Hardly, it is very relevant - its what is coming, like it, love it or lump it. It is what everyone, in time will have, you cannot turn the clock back, and no reason to.

We do, I think, all agree - the government made a total mess of the implementation, and is still making a mess of it, but it makes little difference to their valued contribution, to the way we pay for energy.

You tell that to the young family who was freezing cold today, or the old dear who’s meter fails and she doesn't know who to call.

Or the endless people who have to sit on the phone for hours when the “system” is down.

It’s clear you live in a bubble. I have to work in the industry and see it first hand.
