The simple reason why kosher meat is not universally acceptable is because it is not stunned.
Halal meat, as served in restaurants, sold in supermarkets, etc is stunned. Thus there is so little difference between non-halal meat and halal meat that it makes economical sense to universally accept halal meat.

Anyone who doesn't want to eat halal meat can refuse to buy it. There's no compulsion to buy or eat halal meat. In fact there's no compulsion to eat any sort of meat.

Of course, you could buy halal meat and say a black magic or witch's prayer, or a christian "grace" before eating it to counter the muslim prayer whispered when it was slaughtered.

Despite this knowledge the hoo ha (from Yiddish) was about halal meat, not kosher meat.

If spitespirit doesn't want to eat it, that's his choice. But to claim that his concern is for animal welfare demonstrates his dishonesty.

The small number of abattoirs catering for muslims who insist on non-stunned animals is about the same as the abattoirs catering for kosher meat demand. They are both a specialist demand, fully licensed and probably more expensive.

When we slaughter chickens, we neither stun, nor say a prayer. But it's hardly economically viable to raise and slaughter your own chickens these days. And it's far more convenient to buy them oven ready from the shops.

johnmeliar, I owe you an apology.

About time you came around to the truth.

Now take that

This what I don't get:

We have the apologists on this forum who label people as 'racist' because they happen to care about the country they were born and bred in. But they will quite happily slag off the Jews. Is that not racist in itself?

Do the apologists not think that ALL people should be treated with respect?:

So should a Christian or an atheist be able to buy a bacon sandwich in a muslim country? After all the muslim has the choice not to eat it.

You're confusing rational discussions about animal slaughter with anti-semitism.
You're in danger of usurping johnmeliar's claim.

Next johnmeliar will be telling us that not all jews are Israelis, or even that not all Israelis are jews.
