Nothing like setting out your stall before opening, is there?Jeez. Some people really will go all out to support a religion (ROP) that has nothing good going for it, and only negative impacts wherever it goes for settled, indigenous populations.
ditto.Come on all you apologists (JohnD, Newboy, peteleach, etc, etc) - here's a tough one for you -
I believe that religion does serve a useful purpose in society. I'm not a supporter of any religion, but neither am I antagonistic towards any religion. I'm ambivalent towards all religions. (for johnmeliar's sake Islam is a religion. ) Similarly, I am respectful of the wishes, dictats, taboos of any religion, when in the company, surroundings, etc of the followers. It's their core value, why should I disrespect it. If I wanted to disrespect someone there's easier ways than to insult their values. In my opinion, insulting someone's values is like insulting them and hoping to get away with it. It's like insulting someone's relatives or friends. You don't have the balls to insult someone directly so you try to dress up your insult in a way that you hope to evade a reaction.tell us all what's good about islam? What positive things does that religion bring to the Western table. We've told you the bad aspects that are all coming home to roost - now, no BS, lets have the good side as you see it?
Religion is a force for good in society, it picks up the pieces that politics, and sometimes families, fails to recgonise or accept. It represents the values of a large group of people.
But I abhor and denounce radical extremists of any and all persuasions.
They serve no purpose other than to exacerbate the situation.
Pluralism is alive and kicking. Lets uphold that sense of pluralism rather than try to destroy the very foundation of what western democracies are based on.
Over to you. What do you find distasteful about Islam?Over to you - but just keep to the subject. No BS.
Please restrict your opinions to Islam, not to radical extremism.
