It's the inverse of racism.

I can say that your race is inferior (racist)

Or I can say I think my race is superior (patriot).

Wll, sorry to disappoint you, I see that differently. Patriotisme is loving your country, racism is hating or not accepting someone from another race, where race doesn't have to be linked to a specific country cause a race can be 'spread' over many countries.

Are you saying that a Jew couldn't have a love for his countrymen and a willingness to sacrifice before the establishment of Israel?

Are you saying that a Yugoslav can no-longer be patriotic now his country is divided?

When it says 'love of country' it includes the people (race) who live there.

It's pretty basic stuff.
