People smuggler jailed for 17 years: 1 tier Labour

The last government were quietly jailing people smugglers and skippers of small boats since they introduced tougher laws.

The last government introduced laws that meant illegals could not apply for asylum, this government broke them and claimed they would result in people never being deported.

Most illegal boat people are told to destroy their ID because they don’t want their previous applications or long stays in safe countries to go against them.

Plenty of civil rights lawyers advise illegals to claim they are persecuted Christians or homosexuals it’s the same with visa overstayers.

90% of small boats are detected. They have radar and drones to catch the skippers

Cool.

So notch does a number 9 Completely make things up that you said and heavily edit your post to fit their point,
Completely misses the question at the end it is clearly not an opinion as fact -to anyone who who is not trying to do a number 11 that is 11 deliberately try to antagonise the poster
Aveatry complied his list from the lies he states in his own posts

here is an example of Aveatry “completely making things up”
So according to you two then the majority of them come over with their ID

Poor Aveatry, always wrong

It has become a money making industry with many using social media to promote their service. And whilst some don't want to acknowledge the fact, many that are entering the country are groomed in terms of what to say etc as part of the service they receive.

It has also become a complete and utter farce that our country seems incapable of properly addressing the matter.

Do you mean facts and not hyperbole ?
I know people who run charities that help asylum seekers and refugees integrate. They don't keep spreadsheets of how everyone arrived, what their story was and what route they took, and what subsequent life of work/crime they turned to, so I couldn't show you a pie chart - this is just commentary of their general observation.
There are good and bad apples in every barrel, but these case workers and charity managers do generally see the full cross section of apples and because they're the initial/main support network for migrants they do end up reasonably involved in the typical migrant's life for quite some time after they arrive.
I work with one of the ones who just wants to keep his nose clean, get on with work, buy a house, bring the wife and twins he left behind 6 years ago and be a reunited family again. He got a fine for taking a train inappropriate for his ticket and was genuinely terrified it would be the mark on his record that saw him deported. I've spoken with a few that are the opposite end of the scale and are just here for an easy ride, but I'd say its not really more or less of a problem than what we have domestically.
There is a genuine concern among the people I know whom I regard as well versed in the issues, that by stopping the boats and insisting on the legal route as the only route the proportion of freeloaders arriving will rise which is ultimately actually more of a detriment
