People who don't vote should shut up about politics

If you think they are all crap, then stand yourself. Some people want everything their own way but can't be a***d to put any effort in.

How much is the deposit again.......idiot.

bout £500 isn't it? You never heard of fundraisers? With the amount of people who 'want to vote but don't have anyone to represent them' i'm sure you'd be able to raise 500 measley quid.

Which you get back if you get enough votes...which obviously you would if indeed people WANTED to vote but had no-one to vote for...unless of course they are just lazy ****s who like to complain instead of trying to fix ;)

Thats like saying stupid people who have'nt got a belief, should'nt talk about religion:cool:

Not quite, because religion affects everyone, not just those that believe ;)
Thats an over generalization, religion certainly does not affect me, I am completely indifferent to it, for those who believe, ok that up to them, but please don't assume on my behalf, that it affects me, I can make my own mind up.

Wotan

Wotan, if the church paid tax, your taxes would be lower. They are exempt so you make up the short fall....EVERYONE is affected in one way or the other....whether you choose to or not.

What do you do regards voting then AND voicing your political bent if you thing ALL available politicians are egotistical, self centered, nest feathering, back slapping, narcissistic, self important, ignorant twits?

Until i come across a political party that is totally altruistic i will continue not voting and will talk about politics whenever and wherever i damn well please.

Feel free to, however you are in the same position as someone who talks about how awful it is that no-one looks out for anyone anymore and then walks past when someone has fallen over and needs help getting up.

If you think you can do better, then do it, if you don't, vote for someone to do it on your behalf, if you don't...then you are not helping this country that you seem to be angry about people ruining.

That was fun.
So basically what you guys are saying is "Wah wah wah, i'll not vote if I want to which will allow someone I think is ruining this country back into power...but i still like the fact that I can bitch about it like a self righteous **** whenever they do someone which I DIDN'T attempt to prevent"

...fantastic arguments guys.

Maybe you should leave the reasoning to the politicians after all ay.

More skewed logic.
The fact that the church is exempt puts others in the same position as if it didn't exist. Therefore patently not affecting others, from a tax viewpoint.

And you accuse me of skewed logic?? there IS money leaving people's pockets and going to churches, if they had kept the money they would have paid tax on it in their accounts, if they had spent it they would have paid VAT...etc..however by giving it to a church the money affectively disappears into the black hole.

Each action has multiple reactions. Religion affects everyone.

Have'nt voted in the last 3 election's , probably won't in this one !
I am of the opinion that voting should be made compulsory , as in other country's in europe !! If you really want your vote to get noticed & enough do it vote for an extreme party , does not matter if they do not win the seat !!!! those in power will take note !!!!

So you want it compulsory...even though you can't be arsed to do it yourself...and voting for an extreme party (i am guessing you mean one of the rascist ones) is a good idea? The people in power will just take note that wanting to kick black people out of the country is what the public want...they won't 'hear' anything else.

Does'nt politics? ;)

Whoosa clever boy ;)
It does.

However NOT having a belief in religion is not the same as not having a STANCE on religion.

I believe everyone should have a stance on religion, because it affects everyone. I believe everyone should have a stance on politics, because that does too.

Saying you shouldn't talk about religion because you don't have a belief, (just one of the many stances), is like saying you shouldn't talk about politics if you are not a tory (just one of the many stances).

Politics is the one area that affects us that we have a chance to alter to our mindset and it is a complete waste if we do not use it.

The overall level of turnout across the United Kingdom collapsed from 71% in 1997 to 59.3% in 2001.

Can't find the figures for 2005 but it would seem that nye on 40% off those illegible to vote didn't bother for what ever reason,so it seems that from these figures and this trend that those who do speak out will soon become the minority. So who holds the most influence those that vote or those that chose not to.

i understood the reference, nuke, (i've been catching up on missed threads) even though once again schizo is losing himself in his own rhetoric and couldn't see it.
schizo, you have an awful lot of opinions on everything, but for a change it would good to see you engage brain before operating mouth.
your OP was so vague and wide open you could drive a train through it. just why do you think that people who don't vote should shut up? people have opinions. if they want to voice them, they can. where's your problem?

..
because it is hypocritical. They complain about things which they have the power to change but can't be bothered..

Great minds think alike...so do small minds.

I still maintain it should be an obligation to vote, but only if there is a non of the above box.

What happens if non of the above get a majority is a whole different question :)
