it makes a temporary diversion from being enraged about Greta or gender neutral toilets.
 
Good on him for coming out. I feel sorry for the wife though, but if anything it would make his career stronger. If this was 10 + years or so ago, I don't think it would have went down as well
 
I find the interest in the Philip Schofield affair rather disconcerting.
He was a 61 year old man having an affair with a younger male colleague, a 20 year old.

OK, he made a mistake lying about the affair. Others have done likewise, including others who were expected to not lie in their career.
They went on to even greater lies, often with the tribal support of some of the electorate.

I'm wondering whether the morbid interest is motivated by homophobia.
There's been many affairs of older men and younger women (and vice-versa) that have not generated much interest.

Why the morbid interest in Philip Schofield?

I'm reminded of a quotation of Noam Chomsky:
As long as the general population is passive, apathetic, diverted to consumerism or hatred of the vulnerable, then the powerful can do as they please, and those who survive will be left to contemplate the outcome.

According to Schofield he was 20 when the affair began. He might have met the lad when he was 15, but it was several years later that they worked together. So I'm guessing it's suspicious minds that fill in the blanks.
