You can buy a trap for about £45,just put a Mars bar or similar in it or you could employ a pest control company to do the same thing for about £30 a day for the trap but they will come and keep an eye on it once a week which cost extra.
Did a job last year that had a problem with them,what a mess the loft was in.Unbelievable,they ate the lighting circuit
Then the spark re-wired it and they ate it again

I'd suggest an air pistol and a powerful torch - could be lots of fun. Would say a shotgun but that may make a mess of the roof ?
