I too think there are many many songs and you can't just pick one. Even one from each decade would hard.

But if I had to choose just one song from each decade, mine would be:

1950's The Chordettes, Mr Sandman

1960's The Mamas and Papas, California Dreamin'.

1970's Bill Withers, Lovely Day

1980's Fiction Factory, Feels like Heaven

1990's Tasmin Archer, Sleeping Satellites

2000's Owl City, Fireflies

2010's Passenger, Let Her Go
