Price Matching In Supermarkets

What really about me of the need to be a member to get lower prices at certain supermarkets

Lidl seem to insist you have an app on your phone, which I don't like.

Why? I have multiple cards on my phone. It avoids carrying the actual cards with you. You just click on the 'card', whilst following your items on the conveyor, scan when you pass the till, then pay at the end again with your phone.

By tracking your shopping patterns, the supermarkets know all about your life, sometimes before you do.

They know if you've got a stomach ulcer, they know if you're pregnant, they know if you're an alcoholic, they know if you're having an affair, they know if you've lost your job, they know if you've split up with your partner.

what the hell is the 61% made off?
Chicken (39%), Wheat Flour [Wheat Flour, Calcium Carbonate, Iron, Niacin, Thiamin], Water, Rapeseed Oil, Pea Fibre, Salt, Yeast, Dextrose.

So it looks like you're paying for flour, water and pea fibre

And the Aldi one is

Chicken Breast (60%), , Rapeseed Oil, Salt, Tapioca Starch, Dextrose, Yeast, Paprika Powder, Skimmed Powder, Turmeric Extract.

Yes, as has been said, food is bulked out with much cheaper ingredients. Water and fillers are popular. Starches or starchy ingredients.

Vegetable proteins are used to increase the protein content in the product, while reducing the more expensive protein.

The downside is these fillers have no flavour, so often you find the salt content has been hiked.

It depends on several factors whether i go back to a store - layout is key: our local Morrisons stack shelves so high it feels like a trek through high rise suburbs, and i don't like the staff much. The co-op is smaller and the folk are friendly, but less choice. So i tend to stick with an online main shop and pick up bits n' bobs from local stores, like our butchers, who stock the only sausages worth a damn for a thousand miles in any direction.
I agree about Morrisons staff, most in our branch hardly mutter hello at the checkout, Tesco not much better, Booths & M&S much better
