Proposing

I plan to propose to my girlfriend later this year after 21 years together ( yes I know I took my time). I would like to do something romantic although I know she wouldn't like a public thing like saying it in fireworks or down on one knee in a restuarant.

I do have a few ideas but was wondering if any members have romantic suggestions or experiences of your own. Female suggestions particularly welcome.

Depends what sort of away days/holidays you have.
I got hold of my partners passport, said we were going out for the day, (It was her 60th) walked towards Eurostar, she said I havnt got my passport. She still doesnt know how I got it as it was locked away.
So a day in Paris.
Didnt propose, though, refusal may hurt..

I cant see any advantages in being married, you still love them the same.
In my case 2 single pensions are better that the married one.
I dont mind the nagging about you only care about money, I'm afraid thats needed if you are married or not, get the max, paid in for it.

In my experience (which, to be fair, is based on a sample of one), any attempt to take a woman on a surprize holiday will be a disaster. They need at least a day to pack - and of course the house has to be left neat and tidy too in case a burglar drops in.

I know my woman...Took her to Prague, she new we were flying no idea where to, till we went through to boarding. She kept watching departures trying to work it out, I just left it till last few minutes.

Instead of you going down on one knee, tell her to get on her knees, then say something like. "Do a good job love and we'll see about getting married"

Its a winner every time, they love it.

tried that, thats why we aint married.
