I think you'll find those on the left are more obsessed with The Empire. It's one of their favourite ways of beating themselves up about their own history.
Or a comfort blanket for the right who think we still are an empire, or should be. The spin over the Chagos islands was a case in point, driven by the mindset of the ******* in re form whose anxiety levels went into overdrive when they thought we were relinquishing a piece of the empire.

It’s the far right that adorn themselves with Union Jacks
Brexit was an obsession with the Empire.
All that screaming about sovrinty……

The right are obsessed with the Empire. Rule Britannia

Rachel has been more open about the budget. She will be changing the fiscal rules. Essentially the country will be run on the tax take and zero borrowing. She will borrow for infrastructure providing it's of a type that can lead to growth.

Makes me think that there could be some surprises for the public in the budget that are needed to allow the country to be run on just the tax take. Borrowing for that can lead to a Truss like situation.

IMF seems happy and expects growth. Inflation - usual problem. Food running at 3% and services still about 5.

Starmer also defined working people as people who don't own stocks. Though I detect some spin from sky

I wonder how Starmer expects ordinary working people to buy stocks, if they don't work and earn money. Does he think they are gifted by wealthy lords in exchange for favours?

read the headline and note my comment: Though I detect some spin from sky

1:10 Q: "for someone who works but gets their income from assets as well such as shares and property are they a working person"?
A: "Well they wouldn't come under my definition of a working person."

Clear?

its what he said.

I wonder how, or if, that differs from what the tories call "hard working families"

Does that include the Bra Baroness, or Phillip Green? Lord Amstrad?

Sir Keir said he believed a working person was somebody who "goes out and earns their living, usually paid in a sort of monthly cheque" but they did not have the ability to "write a cheque to get out of difficulties".
