He was sentenced to spend time in prison, he was not sentenced to be have his throat cut. Therefore the prison has failed in it's duties to protect the inmates from one another. Which I think is one of their duties.

Great idea, when the rapists and murderers and bank robbers gang up together and leave the shoplifters, potheads and people who couldn't afford to pay their council tax lying in pools of their own blood.

Anyone in custody deserves rights. Regardless of what they have done. But all I see is lynching and mob behaviour.

If the state has placed someone in a location , the onus to prevent that person coming to harm is on them.

I seem to remember you arguing at length that our armed forces personnel chose to put themselves in the line of fire so they should live with the consequences. That despite the fact they cannot choose which wars to fight.

However, it is useful to vent one's anger somewhere, and here is a good a place as any. That was, and is, the main purpose of this thread and I'm surprised that a man of your intellect (and I'm not being facesish nor sarcastic) doesn't realise this.

Male adult prisoners (those aged 21 or over) are given a security categorisation soon after they enter prison. These categories are based on a combination of the type of crime committed, the length of sentence, the likelihood of escape, and the danger to the public if they did escape. * Category B prisoners are those who do not require maximum security, but for whom escape needs to be made very difficult
* Category C prisoners are those who cannot be trusted in open conditions but who are unlikely to try to escape
* Category D prisoners are those who can be reasonably trusted not to try to escape, and are given the privilege of an open prison. I believe he is now in a living hell..........he is loathed by everyone is is now feeling very alone and that his life is worthless and that he has nothing to live for.

Can anyone on here imagine themselves living his life and how he must be feeling.? Not to mention the constant fear of threat to his personal safety.

Here's one: First we starve him for 2 weeks, then we remove his eyeballs and replace them with pickled onions. Notice I said pickled onions, hahaha that'll sting like f**k! Then we let him loose in a big room full of tables covered in pies. Except these aren't normal pies, they are filled with nasty things such as live slugs and dog poo, only 5% of the pies will actually be edible! Ha!
Televise the event on a pay per view basis, make it a Big Brother type show (complete with goerdie voiceover) and call it Little ****.

That would surely be a deterrent to all murdering paedo's.

I suppose legally, it could be argued that although the Prison Service have a duty of care to him, he actually put himself in his present vulnerable position, therefore he has failed to protect himself.

Didn't have any to begin with, he's done the crime, been caught, is banged up and I don't see him ever being released. Job done.

Don't really care if he gets the money, he can't spend it anyway, he will either have to give it away to a relative, who will then spend it (good for the economy) or it will sit in a bank account, which would increase the banks assets which will increase their lending power. (good for the economy)
Actually it might encourage the prisons to be a little bit better at doing their job if he does win.

The state hasn't put him there, he has done it to himself and therefore needs to take responsibility for possible outcomes of his actions.
