Raking it up again

The one thing that really irks me about that article is the last bit where he stays in his cell and puts on a TV.

Not just him, but any convict in principle should not have such home luxuries - they should forfeit most rights when they decide to imprison themselves!

why the hell shouldn't we want retribution?

what would you do if you woke to find a hooded man in your house in the middle of the night? and you caught him? would you use reasonable force to restrain the blaggard until plod arrived? i doubt it, any self respecting man with a family to protect, would make sure the scumbag was on his knees begging for you to call the policce... having accidentally fallen down the stairs of course !!

And let me pre-empt your response... that makes me as bad or worse than them? well i didn't go out with the intention of causing them harm, and they broke the law first.

As for huntley, he wants the law to protect and compensate him? what law was he respecting when he kidnapped and killed those poor little mights?

Those of you sugggesting that little piece of sh1t should be protected in any way should be ashamed, i accept that the law has to act in a certain way, but we don't have to like it.
And think on, would you feel such compassion if they were your daughters?

The prisoner who " Slashed his throat" needs a reprimand of course.. He didn't slash hard enough or use a knife that was sharp enough either.

I must say, I'm glad that this scum is top of the prison hit list and hope the warders do all they can to assist those who would wish Huntley harm.

But Huntley has tried to commit suicide hasn't he? isn't suicide illegal? and if he wants to kill himself, why is he bothered if other people try too?

Suicide is only illegal if your caught attempting it. (bit of a stupid law really as they usually only catch people once they are dead)

Just a pity the warders found him too soon when he tried suicide.
Had I been a prison warder and found Huntley trying to kill himself, I'd have probably put the kettle on and checked on him 6 hrs later, then every 24 hrs later until he was successful.

Oh no it's all kicked off again! you seem slightly o.t. here, or is aggravated burglary another of Huntley's crimes?

I have no compassion for Huntley, but I am concerned that someone (the attacker) should go to prison for a serious offence, and yet still have the opportunity to carry out a violent act. So what about this bloke who attacked him? this could be a bank robber, granny raper or even your very own burglar. He's been caught, banged up and yet is able to acquire a weapon and attack another inmate. One day this guy will get parole, despite having received a minor extension to his sentence for the Huntley attack. Then he will be back in your street one night looking for open windows and unlocked doors. I suppose you'd invite him in this time, and offer him a beer?

No they weren't my daughters (or yours), and if they were then my opinion should be regarded as biased so irrelavant.

Deluks, your point now is about the slasher... which surprises me as the weight of the comments last night were about our blood lusting, and your (apparent?) reasoning that nasty crims deserve protection of the law whilst in Jail?

the problem of crims getting weapons etc in the nick has and will always be a problem.. humans are resourceful and cunning, and will make a knife out of just about anything... you can't stop them touching anything solid! But access to drugs, phones etc is just ridiculous.

and deluks i'm a bit upset that being as it's not your daughter, you think differently about it. These pervs don't care whether or not it's your daughter, and given the chance, i reckon Huntley would've quite happily have killed yours or my daughter !! and there are many more out there like Huntley.

So the sooner we start getting tough with these dregs of society and denying THEM their human rights by removing all non-essential items such as tv's, playstations etc the sooner we will be able to relax just a little.

That's the thing though, they can't be denied their human rights.

thats a very good point... but shouldn't we 'earn' our human rights? or if not, get animal rights?

and human rights needs to be a balance between the human rights of the individual against the rights of the many..... you could say its against Huntleys human rights to keep him locked up for the rest of his life?

And against the rights of the majority to have to live in a society where these individuals are allowed to live a 'normal' life whilst at the same time being able to pyhscologically instilling fear into the rest of society.

If a dog is considered dangerous it is humanely put to sleep.

Not even in the same league, along with brady, venables, thompson, sutcliffe and too many others to mention.

(Notice the deliberate lack of capital letters).
