Bringing this thread back to the subject matter for a moment.
I've criticised and praised the police in the past and am well aware of the difficult and dangerous situations they put themselves into on our behalf for which we are eternally and genuinely grateful.
And now the "however" ... regardless of how long it took them to locate Moat, the final stand off was for sevral hours, during which time there would have been plenty of time to discuss and decide on as many different scenario outcomes as possible. Somewhere within these discussions at high and ground level, it would have been absolutely essential that with such media coverage (and given that the area was made "safe") there should be not a single opportunity for any questionmark over the behaviour nor methodology of the police in their handling of the affair. Why oh why oh why does this come to light then?
Second, it is unclear of the precise sequence of events at the time of Moat's death. Given the time and technology available, there must surely have been one or several police cameras recording the situation. Not that the general public would get to see it, but the subsequent investigation would find it of extreme value to determine a timeline and rule out any suggestion that the police fired the taser which caused a twitch in the trigger finger etc.... Maybe there is a recording - if so it seems a pretty well guarded secret.
I'm not after a witch hunt against the police, but in the interest of our confidence in police handling of such cases, they need to be seen to be scrupulously professional.

If it corroborated their actions it would have been released by now..
however since that's unlikely it'll either be put under a 'D notice', or edited to show that they did no wrong whatsoever...

In any organisation, be it the police, military, ambulance crews, fire crews or even any private/public business there will always be someone in that organisation that can/will tarnish the reputation of others.
I've come to the conclusion that these posters who de-cry the police as a whole have never had need of their assistance in their entire life. They may also have been indoctrinated to these views by either their parents or peers
Life does have a nasty habit of throwing up nasty situations when you least expect them, doesn't it? Wonder what their views would be like then.
