Following on from //www.diynot.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=157952

I have had the "builders" back, at their cost, to redo the built-up felt roof. They are installing the lead flashing and attempting to form a gutter drip tomorrow. So don't be surprised that this is missing in the photos.

Cheese-us what a mess, Roy rogers and trigger or what,

Can I please keep these photos and use them for our lectures of DI how not. talk about trying to save materials..... sorry you find yourself in this mess, I would not let them near again, and if you have paid any money out ..... sue em!

The roofers arrived. These guys are smokin'! They just said that everything the last builders did was wrong, except for the aris rail. None of the felt was stuck down, so it just came off easily. Obviously, they hadn't heated the felt properly to melt the bitumen at the back.

It took me 5 minutes to tidy up the pointing on my side with a round stick. My neighbour said "I'd get up their myself, but it was paid to be done PROPERLY. So THEY should do it." [Blows a raspberry, in my head]

What you have is a normal adequate (professional) job. But, far better than the amateur's you had previously.

I saw the photos you provided in previous post - they are damning and leave no doubt as to the incompetance of these cowboys.

I am surprised however that you let them back for another go? You say that the law forces you to do so? No court will side with them once these photos are shown.

Give them a choice...

either they pay for the work to be completly re done by a roofer of your choice or they simply give you your money back.

If they refuse contact trading standards, go to small claims court and opitimize that little website of yours so it shows up in google whenever someone is searching for a roofer in your area!

I don't think they should resume trading until they get an education. They don't seem even the slightest concerned about their extremely poor knowledge or lack of commonsense. According to them, their previous customers have been completely satisfied. I replied saying that ignorance is bliss. They seem proud of their work. If this is so then logically they won't mind me showcasing their complete works on my website. The only way to give this website a higher Google profile is to increase the number of links pointing to this page, apart from changing the meta data tags to be more relevant. I should also have a comments section for when they do finally encounter the web page. They won't find a positive comment.

Just who are their satisfied customers?! I have an idea and it worries me.
