I'm at a loss to understand whether it's being argued that the two 10 year olds should have been killed in retribution for their murder of Jamie Bulger or Jon Venables the 27 year old. If it is that two 10 year olds should have been killed, then heaven help us all.

The crime they committed cannot be excused so it was never going to be easy finding an appropriate sentence for a crime that is usually committed by adults. What troubles me is that so many claim that they could have killed Thompson and Venables in retributions. Could we really find people that would happily take teh lives of children and see it is some sort of justice.
