Why is this country becoming more like USA? There people trust Industry more than the government but the UK (used to) trust the government more than industry.

Unfortunately most are naive enough to believe that once the government see how easily we give up small freedoms they won't be back for more. Thin end of the wedge. The basis of what Regan is saying is true. We have to be careful what freedoms we give up, for how long and in what circumstances.

That trust in the US is, of course, misplaced. They should trust neither.

I wonder what Lally says when asked to provide I.D. when she's dropping off rubbish at the local recycling centre, or tip, as they used to be known? Probably says something like...
