Smear Karma

And that is exactly why the system doesn't have the funds to provide what it should...

But just out of interest, do you think rich people/corporates are better than poor people?
Its not about being better.

Its about having a model where people are not incentivised to dispose of their capital to get the same care free of charge.

No its not tax avoidance.

And you will find its normal "middle-class" people who do it.

Anyone with more than £25k has an incentive to put their assets beyond their reach.

It's not people off-shoring their assets to avoid tax. Its people signing over their homes to their kids earlier enough and the council failing to be able to assess it. Or more simply people blowing their wealth to avoid the state taking it.

A two tier care system fixes this. Same as schools, same as private hospitals.

Nobody goes private unless the service is better.

Why bother if you get the same service paid for by the tax payer, by "organising" your finances.

But examples given show it isn't the same service and paying for it gives you more choice. You are claiming both payers and non payers get the same service. They don't.

There is already a 2 tier system of sorts. There are council owned care homes and also carers employed by the council. The bulk of homes are privately owned. Maybe the area needs to be the size of B'ham to have a council owned one. As my experience in this general area was 20 odd years ago they may have been sold.

Carers. Currently there are 64,000 care people in he UK on a type of visa that can be obtained when some company offers a job.. Recent reports of abuse suggesting some come via an agency and are effectively trapped in the situation they find themselves in. Similar reports about one route for doctors hit the news not all that long ago.

My father did look after my mother but when it was decided that he was terminally ill social services got involved due to an attendance allowance all such can claim. Frankly I don't think they needed it but it was arranged. When y father actually died the council stepped in again. My mom could remain at home but would need 3 care visits a day plus some others for specific aspects such as laundry. A council employed carer would show up now and again. As she put it they get a uniform and holidays. The others were put out for companies to tender for each year. Great fun as each time I needed to check what was going on. Payments go to the council. Cheque each month. I complained and they introduced a direct debit method. My mother couldn't write clearly thanks to parkinsonism. I also had to get myself the ability to use her bank account which involved taking her to the bank. Fortunately the manager had noticed that while he had seen my father he hadn't seen my mother for a long time so was helpful.

Next phase came when it was deemed that she needed to go into a home. That came about due to a council employed carer "arranging" for her to go into hospital hoping more treatment would help. That she was there was news to me. It couldn't. I could post more on this step if anyone is interested.

So why are we disagreeing?

It matters not how much an individual pays into the system, it's equality of care...

Some people have a better chance in life than others...

I am one of those better off !

But unlike others I pay my fair share, don't defraud other taxpayers, and don't laugh about said fraud...

And when my time comes I'll probably be paying whilst others won't...

Is that fair?

No...

But I believe in a society, unlike the money grabbing bastards!

Can't be far off now - there no denying you're in your sixties, old chap. I just hope you don’t get the same hatred from your 'sons' that you've shown for your father.

We all hope that our house will not catch fire, but, as a community, we fund a fire service to help us if it does. Poor people's houses are not left to burn down.

We all hope we will not get a brain tumour, but, as a community, we fund a Health Service to help us if we do.

We all hope we will not have a stroke or get dementia....

Ironically, you as an embittered nasty old troll shows hatred with almost every post you make...

Even when given solid advice...

Probably because you are shown up time and time again as someone who is totally ignorant and is obviously unaware of that fact ;)

Biking admires the people who squirrel away their wealth to avoid paying for what they could afford.

Like a yachtsman helping himself to food donations left for the poor

Or using a stolen blue badge to give himself the benefits provided for those in need.
