His place was just outside Benidorm, so Valencia region. In any case, he thinks Newham is much better. I won't say what I think about Newham (where I lived until 1990 but still work in) because all those on here who don't know the place will insist that I'm wrong!
Benidorm has got to be better than Jaywick

Spain has made 4000 illegal naval and air incursions into gebraltan territory since 2019

just recently (today) a British naval vessel had to deal with another illegal Spanish war ship incursion into Gibraltar waters

Bullfighting in Spain is becoming increasingly unpopular among Spanish people. But the right and far-right governments continue to support it.
According to government figures, only 8% of the population went to a bullfighting spectacle last year. Of this percentage, 5.9% attended a bullfight or 'corrida' while the rest went to other events such as the popular running of the bulls.

But the efforts to maintain the character of the 'corridas' intact over time are losing strength every year. Government figures reveal how Spain’s bullfighting tradition is facing extinction due to the lack of public and the growing trend towards animal protection both in the social and political sphere.

A poll in May found almost half of Spaniards want bullfighting banned.

I don't agree with bullfighting but as in all national decisions, 'almost half' is just not good enough. Ask any remainer. :p
You're right, of course, almost half of the population making the right decision is not enough for a sensible government to follow sensible policies. And the Spanish government continue to support bullfighting.
What can we do to persuade governments to pursue sensible policies other than to continue campaigning?

Perhaps people should campaign somewhere worthwhile and not on a hairy-arsed builders forum?
I'm sure the Spanish government take a lot of notice of what is posted in a hairy-arsed builders forum.
