I read of one hospital where 55 out of 59 nurses are off sick due to burnout.

burn out can't happen in our hospitals can it. They are so well staffed.

Not. That's part of their issues and claims, not just money. But reading the press you are led to believe, and lots do (looking at you, gone) that it's all about pay.

It's fair to say I'm sceptical about a group of people who claim 'it's not about the money' and then demand a 20% pay increase.

Yes, it’s real and created by those who demand 20% pay rises.
interesting that the nurses are responsible for inflation, rather than just trying to keep up with it.
There is an argument where high pay rises continue the circle of inflation, but it is totally wrong to say that they cause it. A typical right wing response.
if pay in real terms for most workers had not been abused over the last few years there wouldn't be the problems there are with the cost of living.
but let's blame those that want to keep up with inflation.

Yes, let's have a society where strikes are as good as banned. Yipee! I mean, I'm sure employers wouldn't exploit that fact by keeping wages even lower whilst raking in more profit for themselves ;)

Be very careful what you wish for ...

So let's all have a 20% pay rise, everyone will have more money to spend and nobody will try to get it off us by putting their prices up.
When the prices do go up we'll get another 20% rise.
Stuff it, let's just go for 45% now.

Agree, it's a problem.

But it's not the cause

Maybe folk wouldn't feel the need to strike if their pay and, in some cases, conditions had continued to rise at a reasonable rate over past years. I'm not advocating folk getting huge increases left right centre and on a whim, however the divide between rich and poor(er) needs addressed. For example the ratio/divide between worker and CEO salary becoming ever wider.

especially when the CEO tells the workers they can't afford to give a rise.

that type of of action has helped cause the issues.
