Hi guys. Pretty desperate on this one ....

I've hired a pretty hefty hammer drill in order to get through a wall but only of the drill for one night.

I've used it for 5 minutes with the short extension in order to start the hole but when I've come to swap it out for the longer extension these two are so tight together I can't detach them.

The drill is a DeWalt but not sure what make the bits are. The other hole in them which I guess should have a tool to help detach them but there's nothing in the box.

Does anyone have any tips I'm getting these two separated?

Looks like some kind of mortar rake rather than a drill bit. There should be a grub screw in the hole that can be undone with an allen key.

I think you're looking at the wrong end. :)

It appears to me as if it's an SDS to taper bit adapter, and the OP is missing the drift?

It may be possible to wedge a small screwdriver down the hole, a couple of taps with a hammer may be enough to start the separation?

Yes I was!

In the absence of the wedge a few whacks with a drift should release it - probably not for the first time:

Thanks for the advice guys... well...apart from the guy who said it was a motor rake and the guy that said I was looking at the wrong end.

A managed to disconnect it by basically lumping it with a big hammer. I took it back to the hire shop today and they said it was missing the little wedge tool that you normally would bash into the hole in order to loosen it.... Said they never work and it's better just to lump them with a hammer.

On another positive managed to get the hole drilled through the wall which turned out to be 90 cm thick!!!

Cheers guys

more like they don't keep them - always worked for me ! just a tap with a clawhammer. Logical engineering principle (y)
