Sue Gray

No doubt he needs someone to tame the lefty lions, if they get a sniff of power.

Speaking of lefty lions, I see Owen Jones is wading in, how embarrassing.

And it has even attracted criticism from left-wing activist Mr Jones who took to Twitter today to blast Ms Gray's new Labour role.

He said: "Labour's appointment of Sue Gray meets the 'would you think this is bad if the Tories did it' test, and anyone claiming otherwise isn't being honest with themselves."

Mr Jones' post was retweeted by a number of stunned Tory MPs who said they agreed with him.

Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland MP Simon Clarke said: "There is a first time for everything. I agree with Owen.

"This is the key point - it's just a deeply unwise appointment, and damaging to the Civil Service in a way all parties should care about."

If you were invited to a "dinner in Miners Hall" with City of Durham MP Mary Foy from 8.40pm to 10pm. Would you think - oooh sounds like a nice party.

Did he fancy himself as chive of staff?

Gray has been raided. Though that could be spin for hand back your property. They could also sack her while she is on notice, which would end any career back in the other direction. CoS is such a strange and usually not particularly senior role.
Nothing of any substance in the article I can see to justify the implication she has breached some sort of confidence. Just standard return of IT equipment when a job finishes.

That said it isn't appropriate for a civil servant with specific role on integrity in public life should take a party political role.

But it will put pressure on Sunak/MP's to sack/de select BJ when he is found to have misled parliament.

Blup

NOW STOP THE KANGAROO COURT

Says the Fail.

But, strangely, not about their smear.

If it was all above board, why the secret meetings and sudden appointment? My last position took 7 months of discussion, I suspect it's a very similar story for her. Senior jobs don't get done and dusted in a few weeks. Others agree

it must really be hurting.

but none of it changes Boris agreeing with the result. But he didn't have any choice when he knew he was guilty.

Johnson lied to Parliament. Repeatedly

Starmer also said that he would resign if found to have acted wrongly

Johnson hung on until forced out.
Starmer was cleared by Durham police

Johnson was fined by the Met
But he is an influential lawyer who threatened the full force of his legal team if he was given an FPN.
