Hi,

I’m fitting a dual fuel towel rail to our bathroom.

Originally I was just going to run a spur to the bathroom from a socket in the nearest bedroom.

However, when I've looked, it would be just as easy to extend the ring main to the bathroom.

Here is a diagram of my original plan.

Is this OK or is there a rule about Switched FCU’s not being allowed on a ring main?

Notes:

Our house was fully rewired to Part P 17th Edition a couple of years ago.
The switched FCU, timer unit, flex plate and towel rail will all be outside of any zones (ie they are all more than 60cm away from the bath and shower cubical).

Thanks in advance

Hi, i would put the fcu in the bedroom, i think it looks better with just the controller in the bathroom. Especially on a tiled wall.

You have RCD protection on the circuit, yes ?

Kind regards,

DS

Ideal. You can wire the flex from the towel rail straight into the controller and eliminate another box if you wish.
