Texecom JAL-0001 ComPort+ Digi Modem Port Pinout?

I found a laptop, installed Wintex, plugged in a USB-COM and read the panel without any issues using Com Port 3.

Parking the project until I get hold of an old Premier or Elite panel to do some testing with on Com Port 1 & 2 without anything else installed.

I'm always open to ideas if anyone is passing through this thread and understands what I am trying to do...

if you can read with usbcom then you can read with ip module, just dont program the port up and make sure you know the ip address of the module and maybe make sure port isnt 1001 as the com ip uses that port normally so want to use a different port

Again, forgive me if I'm out of my depth.
Could you experiment by putting another ESP8266 on the end of the USB-COM to create a wireless link between laptop and panel?

sorry to clutter a thread with silly questions - but I have an elite 24, I also have JAL-001.
I have connected via wintex via smartcom and set com port 1 as smart comm, 2 as ComIP and 3 as creston so I can utilise homeassitant etc.

Even though JAL-001 is attached via the main board pinout (albeit with nothing connected via the JST plug on JAL-001)

Do I need a specific additional cable to attach JAL-001 to the main board or do I need something like what you are creating to interface?
(if I change comport 2 to creston and 3 disabled it works, but then I lose ComIP)

(again sorry for the stupid question, I googled and this thread seems most topical haha)

Have you tried altering the baud rate on com2 ? I’ve just upgraded a elite 48 to lastest software fitted a smart com on com1 and 3 and set a dual com pro on com2 was getting faults until I swopped the baud rate on com 2 for the dual com pro I think I upped it to 9600 ?

could you send me a screenshot of your settings from wintex for the com ports please? I have also just updated everything to the latest version.

ill have a play around in the morning adjusting the baud rate. but to confirm you have JAL-001 installed (first image on this thread) but no cable in the white JST plug on the little board?

JAL -001 is just a com port adaptor you will need something else …what protocol does creston use ?

I am still working on this project as time allows and as @sparkymarka said, you can only alter the baud on COM2 which means if you also have a SmartCom installed you are going to need to play around a bit. It would be great if Texecom could enable you to change the baud on ALL COM ports but there may be a hardware limitation preventing this. The 'new' Monitor Mode in the firmware makes for an easy SmartCom setup (if you choose to use it) but it further adds to the complication if you want to access the panel on COM3 because it locks down certain settings. In any case, you are going to need additional hardware to attach to the port in order to communicate with your HA server etc. which is the whole purpose of my experiments. I have a spare premier panel to play with now so I will update when I get a chance to figure out some working settings...

Is your plan essentially to create a DIY version of a comIP module? Eg with an esp?

Yes, and I have had it working BUT when using with a SmartCom plugged in as well, everything breaks! I am sure there is a way around it but I did not want to keep pulling my own panel around and waited for an old premier panel to come up so I can play around on the bench. I have one now so I should get a chance over the next couple of weeks to test.

I've had a chance to setup a full test panel (Elite 64W) this weekend and played around with this project but I just cannot get the ESP8266 module to communicate with the panel at all. I thought I did previously but I think I was mistaken and interpreting the module RX/TX LEDs incorrectly.

I have probed the serial data being sent and it is arriving at the panel but the panel will simply not respond. I have tried almost every combination of settings on the panel comports and changed the IP port number (making sure to reset the com port each time by toggling to 'Nothing Fitted' and back) and a host of other settings (methodically) but the result is always the same.

There are reports of others getting these modules to work and it may be that I have built the esp-link software wrong but I have tried a few different units and they all work back to back with each other so as far as I can tell it 'should' work.

I may have to abort this project in it's current form and try ser2net on a Raspberry Pi.
