And in other news, they are suggesting that the stats are suggesting that both the AZ and PZ jabs seem to be defeating the Indian covid variant too.

That's good news. (for those that have had the vaccine!)

I'm not the only one.

In your (and Nemesis' and others who believe) world is no one allowed to hold differing views on matters which are not absolutely certain.

Oh they've changed their mind because of developments. They were wrong.

Haven't some of them denied that was the policy?

Maybe some have denied it.

To be blunt I don't care a jot about the variable opinions of a few on the edges of polly ticks for whom political gain is the most important outcome of the present situation.

Even those that weren't in the relevant meetings have denied it.
But the UK Health Security Agency chief said allowing people to become infected "has never been on the agenda".
Dr Jenny Harries said she had "never been in a government meeting where herd immunity was put forward as a mechanism of control" for the pandemic.
"But bear in mind I would not have been in most of the high-level ones as the deputy chief medical officer," she said.

Asked by Andrew Marr whether herd immunity had been government policy at the beginning of the Covid pandemic - before a vaccine had been created - Ms Patel replied "absolutely not".

Talking to the BBC in July 2020, Prof Ian Hall, an epidemiologist, who attended multiple Sage meetings said reaching herd immunity by allowing the virus to spread through the population "was on the table" but added it was never realistic

I guess it's how you interpret, 'on the table', or 'on the agenda'., or whether it's an 'official policy'.
Of course there's always the possibility that some are just lying to save their own political necks.

In my world no one gets away with holding views for which there is no evidence without being criticised. Or ridiculed if the views are bonkers enough.
