He will have no interest in the UK, he only wishes to quell distrust in the USA, but as said above, 4 years with Trump will not have been good for him.

Maybe he wanted to head off questions from Trumps administration as to why the FDA hadn't authorised it yet. Sounds plausible.

American anti-vaxxers.

Yes, but as it has been reported in the US anti vaxxers everywhere will jump on the bandwagon of scientists are rushing approval through without the necessary rigour.

Yes but I will be waiting to see if the vaccine has any major bad effects on the hoy polloy or otherwise as he said above.

I would like to wait a short while to see what the side affects might be when tested on the masses.

HAL is immune from viruses, he has Norton 360. I'm in the "Not sure yet" camp, not an anti vaxxer, it's just this government are committing to another knee jerk policy by going for the first vaccine available, while others will soon follow after a bit longer studying, when all is OK, I will have one of my choice. I understand they want the economy up and running, but at what cost ?

it is all a balance of risk; risk of covid versus risk of side effects.

The way the vaccine will be doled out addresses this really well. Those most at risk from covid go first, those least at risk go last. thus always keeping the risks from covid greater than the risks from the vaccine.

If I had health problems and was in my 70s I would take the vaccine today. If I was in my prime then no I wouldn't want it but then I wouln't be offered it for about a year when risks will be well understood.

As it is I'm just under 60, fit, retired, little social contact, live in a very low infected area. So no I wouldn't risk the vaccine today, but by the time they get round to me in 4 months time then if the doctors are still recommending it then I will be taking it.

New Vaccines may have some risks, but covid is one serious illness that has massive risks.

I don’t want it at 42 years old.

They pushed through in 10 months a drug that would usually take 10 years to test. Are they saying they usually mess about for 9 years?
So, we're a bit further down the line. How did the more hesitant members of the group go in the end?

wrote that beginning Dec - I was very confident about having the vaccine by the turn of the year, I was popping into the vax centre by the end of Jan asking if the had any spare ones going. Had my first middle of Feb and the 2nd last week. We're back into meals out now :D - wish we could ditch the mask wearing

I now think anyone avoiding it are a bit thick.

GF aged 37 has just booked for first vaccine.. her decision process was really to make foreign travel a bit easier.

I accept all vaccines that have been properly tested and approved.
This one has not been tested to usual standards and has not been approved unless in emergency, that's why they didn't lift the emergency status a few weeks ago.
On top of it, the "good people" producing it have asked and obtained immunity from any future prosecution or civil case.
Health insurance don't cover death by vaccine, I called mine.
So, as I am healthy and caught covid back in December 2019 (got all the symptoms), when the covid religion hadn't started yet, I will not inject myself with a substance that might make me ill.
I have stayed away from drugs all my life for fear of introducing something wrong in my body, I'm not gonna start now.
Furthermore, I know people who after the first dose have been ill, aching in the joints and with splitting headaches.
No thanks.

That is simply not true - they fast tracked the research and testing, chucking unlimited funding at it, in order to meet a very urgent need for it.

As have I, but were it not for prescribed drugs, by now I would almost certainly be dead due to health issues

Furthermore, I know people who after the first dose have been ill, aching in the joints and with splitting headaches.

A minor inconvenience when compared to suffering covid plus a covid epidemic in the population. Besides, I now know lots of people and spoken to many more, who have had the jab and suffered zero side effects, myself included.

So you are clearly one of the minority of deniers, who feel it is down to everyone else to help reduce the risk which goes with such an epidemic. Does the news coming out of Bolton not prove anything to you?
