I don't care if Pfizer (or whichever company happens to make the first vaccine available) makes a stupid amount of money. If it works, safely then good on them - they deserve every penny.

There's one born every minute

First batch of vaccines has arrived in the U.K. Care home staff to be first to receive it. Ellal, roll up your sleeves and bite on this piece of wood. :sneaky:

They pushed through in 10 months a drug that would usually take 10 years to test. Are they saying they usually mess about for 9 years?

Yes, that is exactly it - they mess about. A scientist explained it on the radio the other day, literally years of going back and forth, getting things agreed by government, signed off, then budgets running out, researchers moving on, change in management, lack of test subjects, running out of budget again and arguing cases for more money etc. - all sorts of things hinder the development of vaccines, rather than it being very hard to actually create one.

Where there's a will there's a way.

because of the huge pressure the vaccine development, testing, production have been run concurrently so instead of waiting for vaccine testing phases and regulatory checks to complete set and manufacture have been done alongside.

Cost of the vaccine, will be an several orders of magnitude smaller than that which the virus is costing everyone at the moment.

Lucky for you enough other people will take it leading to herd immunity which will protect you.

you don't trust your own instincts, you trust your confirmation bias.

Despite having said what I said Trotsky, I would consider having the vaccine for someone else's sake, i.e. a loved one, same as I sometimes wear a mask out of respect for other people's fears.

I bet they **** it up and defrost 90% of the ‘’’’vacines’,’”

I did wonder, if the vaccine is at minus 80-odd, why won't it knacker up the injection site?
After all, they can freeze warts, verrucas, and skin tags off with far less........

I'm now on a monthly injection, which I have delivered four at a time. They have to be stored in the fridge until needed, but are allowed to warm before use. I guess the same is true for the new vaccine, it is brought to room temperature just prior to use.
