Apologies to you and supersparks - I did go off on one last night. I'd actually managed to go quite some time since the last rant, but I'm afraid that when I encounter rules (purportedly in existence for safety reasons) some of which say "you may not do this because the circuit will have inadequate protection", and others which allow you to have the same circuit with the same inadequate protection, I have to struggle not to rail against the utter stupidity of it. Partly my personality, and partly my training in IT. Sometimes I lose that struggle.
I've now registered with the IEE site, and I'll post these questions there, but having had a quick look at some of the threads last night, there's a huge amount of bickering over interpretation of definitions, and the contradictions between various regulations and GNs and OSG.
