Do you include Saudi and Bahrain ?

of course the efforts to protect ships are not aided with firms doing deals with the Pirates.

It's the populations of these Arab countries tht might lead the various governments to 'follow the people', rather than the government deciding what's best for the people.
This stance, while massively unwelcome to global shipping and trade, is going down very well with their own population and across the wider Middle East, where the popular Arab consensus is that the US is part of the problem because it is feeding Israel's war machine and it has been blocking a ceasefire in Gaza.
Arab populations are also dismissive of their own governments' inability to stop the slaughter in Gaza.

22 thousands Arabs killed, and an unknown number of corpses buried in the rubble of bombed homes, churches and mosques, with arms supplied by US. Millions homeless and displaced.

And nearby Arabs seem to be irritable.

Coincidence?

If shipping is forced to transit in convoys, the drones/missiles are not 'intelligent' enough to target specific vessels.

You'd think this would be bad for shipping firms, but they are paid by the ton/Nm, so in a way they are rubbing their hands at having to go the long way around.

Any UK carrier that makes payments to Pirates for safe passage opens themselves up to criminal prosecutions. The US is considering adding them back to the list of terror orgs, which would also make the same illegal. If the UK did the same, that would have dire consequences for any firm willing to pay for protection.

It's the end customers that suffer, in prices and delays.
That end customer is not just your average domestic shopper, it's also the manufacturer, etc.

Or take on the USA justice system.

No going back once it starts though.

And it is likely to escalate, how far is the real issue
too late:

too late:

And how far is it going to escalate ?

How many countries are going to get involved?

Is the West totally innocent do you think?

why is it only the UK and US taking action, the Chinese goods are on the way to all of Europe

why aren't china and the rest of Europe getting involved ?

I'm not against military action (I would cut to the chase and just nuke Iran) but why are we so keen to get involved? we're nearly bankrupt.

China has strong relations with Iran, a lot of trade, a lot of military hardware and missile tech knowledge, China get cheap oil in return and the chance to poke USA in the eye.

Trump was keen on maintaining sanctions against Iran which limited Iran's ability to fund terror, The EU dropped the sanctions in return for Iran postponing it's nuclear ambitions for a couple of years and one of Bidens first jobs was to rescind trumps executive order and lift the US sanctions on Iran.

It's a *****d up world out there, if Israel are reigned in too far, it'll be even more so.

Some of that is right, but a lot if it is wrong.

But you are already looking at most of the world taking sides.

It looks difficult to stop unless Isreal comes to its senses, or is persuaded to.

But be very careful what you wish for.
