Tip experience

Our tip rules are you can turn up anytime with general mixed rubbish including black bin bags with household refuse. DIY rubbish, people with vans or trailers must book a slot online. You can only book 4 free visits per year. Trade has to pay.

Happened to me before so i left the extra outside my local tip's gate at night. No cameras there...

I remember years ago asking how much to pick u an appliance. They wanted £25!!

So, i just dragged it down the street, and reported it as dumped. It was collected the next day!!

You know, we pay for a service yet it sucks!!!
So you are a fly-tipping criminal.

I suppose if we want decent public services we need to pay the taxes to provide them.

Some people aren't willing to do that.

@Koolpc You realise you’re never going to hear the last of this now from Jonny boy.

I pay my taxes, i use the council tip yet, the council still expect exorbitant fees to carry out a task that is their duty anyway!!!

Council tax goes up but we still have to pay more!! Have you seen how many council workers they employ at the tips? They just stand around drinking coffee!!!

Trade is another one. Why do they have to pay to dispose of waste properly? There is probably a cost involved at the tip in processing the waste and trades make money but again, them having to pay to throw away rubbish is ridiculous in my opinion. It encourages them to fly-tip as well if they have to pay to throw away rubbish.
There could be better ways of recovering money, perhaps by adding a small surcharge on the price of raw building material. There's already VAT, so why not take a chunk of that and in the process, reduce fly-tipping.

I got turned away from a council skip site for having 'trade waste', I told them it was my old fence that I replaced. They wouldn't let me in and told me to go home and burn it in the garden!

You couldn't make this up!

Andy

i wonder how many times they have people turning up in vans, estate cars etc, claiming its "from my own house".

I'm not saying yours wasn't, but how do they know ?
