finished off the 5 g tower install today, beautiful weather for it and 15 mtrs high, pretty scary up there when installing the heads as they are heavy

I was called out today to a lamp post internal fire. Because they run off 500A fuses they don't blow, just keep fizzing until we shut them down.

Doesn't this defeat the whole raison d'etre of fuses?

No they run off the national grid at 500A. The lights are down fused to 6A

Once the 6A fuse blows to the light you have a 500A fuse running the grid. So the mains as in the picture runs off 500A. A bit like a house has a 100A supply.
