Right.......

The Tories seem to come out with any old bull if it sounds remotely impressive, even if it's a pack of lies.

I'm sure Labour will be just as deceptive, once they've been in power long enough. It's the greed and lies combined I can't fathom.

Been asking but still not answered by the Tory dogs on here - how do we grow the economy.

Have you seen how difficult it is to get on the first page of the Forbes listing? Making billionaires richer, takes a lot of effort. Especially when you consider that they have to take desperately needed money away from millions of poor people, in order to achieve it. Not easy.

but the public keep voting Tories back into power -allowing them concentrate on making themselves and their mates richer without any pesky distractions like making the economy work for the people

Any whispers on how the self employed will fair under a labour government notchee?

I did great under Blair, ta. (y)
That was a different time, the Tories are a high tax party now and have nibbled away at the self employed advantages.
Labour I'd have thought will have the self employed in their sights.

the self employed have nothing to fear from a Labour govt, unlike the damage they’ve suffered during the last 13 years.

I was never busier than during the last Labour govt, I ran a joinery business through the period, never saw a down turn even after 2008 crash.

How do you think the Conservatives botched reform of IR35 is working out for the self employed?

and have nibbled away at the self employed advantages
obviously IR35 reforms

Im not sure what other things

the benefits of paying yourself by dividends has mostly gone, although TBF that was a tax loophole really

I feel sorry for contractors -for example IT, lots of them were advised to become incorporated then lost money as a result

Small
Bussiness has always been turned over one way or the other by governments imo

Ever growing rules / regs / and armies of pencil pushers and paper shufflers

Irrespective of labour or Tory

I did find when running a joinery business I suffered from all the legislation. Not only did I have to deal with all ever increasing factory regulations, health and safety etc, I also had to deal with the building regs and all the changes with that

More government lies exposed.

Plan for Motorists changed after number of traffic ticket appeals challenged

By Robert Wright in London

UK ministers have been forced to make urgent changes to Rishi Sunak’s pitch to attract motorists’ votes after it vastly overstated the number of wrongly issued penalty tickets.

The Plan for Drivers, published on Tuesday and signed by transport secretary Mark Harper, set out to “restrain the most anti-driver traffic management measures” and “stop councils profiting from moving traffic enforcement”.

A section called, “Stopping Unfair Enforcement” cited the high proportion of penalty-charge notices (PCNs) that were overturned on appeal in London as an example of the injustice facing motorists.

“Issuing fines when the high number of successful appeals indicates that many are not justified reduces trust in the way we enforce our roads,” the Department for Transport document said.

It stated that 42.8 per cent of the more than 7mn PCNs issued in the year to March 2022 were successfully appealed against — implying there were about 3.2mn successful appeals against the 7.47mn notices.

However, statistics issued by London Councils, the grouping of London local authorities, show that there were in fact 45,709 appeals against PCNs during the period, of which 18,130, or 0.24 per cent of all tickets issued, succeeded — a figure 176 times smaller than the government document claimed."
