That's unfair. At the time the benefits of the EU were not articulated well enough but were drowned out by the Brexit myths.

Strange, isn't it, how some people were aware of the benefits without them being articulated during the referendum campaign, and could tell immediately just how big a steaming pile of unicorn poo each leave myth was.

But to explain...

If an import from a non-EU country arrives in say France it is inspected to a standard that applies to all EU/EEA countries...

Thus in this case the EU 'hard border' is in France, but if the import passes the EU standards it is then free to be distributed to all the other EU countries...

Kind of like if an import arrives from a non-EU country into the UK via Dover (hard border), then there are no restrictions (hard borders) between other UK counties.

Thank you for giving me an answer to a question I didn't ask.
I know how borders work, the EU has land and sea borders with lots of non EU countries, the EU imports millions of tons of goods from non EU countries without any problem ,so if the EU can seamlessly import from and export to non EU countries why should N.Ireland outside the EU cause any problems.

As the Republic of Ireland exports a lot more goods to mainland UK than it does to N.I will there be a hard border at ports on mainland UK.

We know that.

as you know, the UK Prime Minister and her negotiators repeatedly agreed to the Backstop to prevent a hard border between NI and RoI. The Prime Minister then changed her mind. I don't know if she's changed her mind again today one or more times.

Ireland it would seem is going to be hit the hardest by this Brexit caper of all the remaining EU states . Bit rough on em imho after all they had no say in the UK decision but are about to bare the brunt or a significant amount of it

The Republic of Ireland also use mainland Britain as a landbridge for their exports to the EU , thousands of lorry journey's a year pass through, if barriers go up then they are stuffed.
Pity really that they are allowing them selves to be used by the EU.

Because the Brexers are demanding something that is impossible; and refuse to accept anything that is possible.

They know that what they are asking is impossible.
